Goobit Group AB (publ), the parent company of Sweden's first bitcoin exchange service BTCX, announces today that the Board of Directors has appointed Gustav Buder as new Chief Executive Officer. Christian Ander, who has led the company since his return as CEO in February 2022, is simultaneously proposed as the new Chairman of the Board at the upcoming general meeting.

Gustav Buder is taking on the role with a clear mandate: to drive Goobit into its next phase, with a focus on product development, regulatory maturity and growth in the Nordic digital assets market. With extensive experience from fintech and the crypto industry, Gustav will lead the company through a period of strategic transition and growth.

– "The Board has followed Gustav's progress over an extended process and is convinced that he has both the experience and the drive required to lead Goobit through this phase. We look forward to working closely with him as the company takes its next steps," says Michael Völter, Chairman of the Board of Goobit.

– "I step into this role with great respect for the work already done, and with high ambitions for what we build from here. We are at the beginning of something bigger, and the coming months will show it," says Gustav Buder, incoming CEO of Goobit.

Comment from outgoing CEO, Christian Ander:
"When I returned as CEO on 22 February 2022, I said: 'There is so much left undone.' That turned out to be true. Since then, we have established and developed new banking relationships, strengthened the company's work within AML, compliance and risk, prepared BTCX for MiCA, and at the same time continued to make Bitcoin accessible to people across Sweden.

Being a pioneer in a heavily regulated and rapidly changing financial market rarely means a straight path forward. Regulations change, banks reassess their risk positions, technology evolves, and the market goes through both euphoria and headwinds. Through all of this, BTCX has remained committed to Bitcoin. Trends and distractions have come and gone, but our conviction in Bitcoin and our long-term mission have remained constant.

When BTCX started 15 years ago, Bitcoin was a matter of interest to a very small number of enthusiasts. Today, Bitcoin is part of the broader conversation within finance, politics and capital markets. I am proud that BTCX has helped drive that development in Sweden.

The next phase will be different from the first. Bitcoin is moving from an early-adopter market toward mainstream adoption. With MiCA licensing, institutional services and an increasingly regulated market, leadership is required that understands both the Bitcoin-native world and can engage with traditional finance, regulation, institutions and a significantly broader customer base. That is why it feels both right and very positive to hand over operational leadership to Gustav Buder. Gustav brings an unusual combination of experience from fintech and regulated finance, together with experience from the international Bitcoin and digital assets market. That is exactly the combination the phase BTCX is now entering requires.

For my own part, this does not mean I am leaving Goobit or Bitcoin — I am stepping down from the day-to-day responsibility of CEO. At the upcoming general meeting, subject to shareholder approval, I intend to take on a more strategic role as Chairman of the Board. There, I can focus on what I believe I contribute most to in the long term: strategy, network, capital, new opportunities, and the vision for where Bitcoin and BTCX should be in five, ten and fifteen years. The first 15 years were about being a pioneer and building something that survived long enough to see Bitcoin become established. The next 15 years are about making Bitcoin accessible to the broader market. I look forward greatly to that journey — now together with Gustav as CEO."

The transition takes effect on 15 August 2026.
