Statement from Goobit/BTCX regarding MiCA rejection

Due to the fact that Goobit/BTCX received a decision the other day, which was not what we hoped for, we would like to take this opportunity to talk about the matter a little more personally.

The Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority rejected our application for a MiCA license. We are analyzing the decision, looking at exactly why Fi has decided as they have done and evaluating our options, such as appealing, which is the most likely path in the near future.
Some more than others, but pretty much everyone, throughout the company has been involved in our great efforts as we worked to get MiCA, the EU's new regulatory framework for players in the crypto industry.
The work has been going on for a very long time and it has been quite demanding.

Demanding, and a great disappointment, is therefore the outcome.

But, as we like to mention, BTCX has been operating for 15 years. This is not the first time we have encountered resistance.
Resistance, of various kinds, has been the rule rather than the exception, one could say.
Receiving a letter from the bank saying that the company's accounts will be closed in a few days, without saying why or leaving any room for discussion.... That happened three times in the first 10 years.
There are also many occasions when we have been able to help with problems of a bureaucratic nature that our customers have suffered.
When you think back, you sometimes wonder why we didn't just give up....

However, "Giving Up" is not something we do here. We are veterans in our field.
We continue onwards, for our own sake, for the sake of our customers, for our shareholders and because we are truly sure that the product we work with, Bitcoin, has a very important role to play in the future. In the financial world of course, but in society as a whole as well.

BTCX continues to be available, our business continues as usual during the ongoing process.
Our ambition to operate within a clearly regulated European framework remains, and we will communicate more information when we know more.
